England v Portugal World Cup 2006

England reached the quarter finals of World Cup 2010. The opposition was Felipe Scolari's Portugal.

Despite losing their captain, David Beckham, to injury just after half-time and being reduced to ten men thanks to Wayne Rooney being sent off, England managed to draw 0-0 with Portugal at the end of extra time. The stage was set for an England v Portugal penalty shootout.

England suffered a worse than usual defeat from the penalty spot. Only Owen Hargreaves managed to get the better of the Portuguese keeper. Lampard, Gerrard and Carragher all saw their efforts saved by Ricardo. Meanwhile, Portugal scored 3 out their first four attempts. Then Ronaldo hit home to send Portugal to the next round, and send England home.
